The Columbus Cafe and Bar on Columbus Avenue in the South End.

The Columbus Cafe and Bar on Columbus Avenue has closed.

The South End restaurant, at 535 Columbus Ave. was empty Tuesday. There were no indication at the restaurant whether the closure was permanent or temporary, or whether another business is lined up to take the space.

A call to the eatery’s listed phone number Tuesday could not be completed.

Boston Restaurant Talk first reported the closing Monday.

The restaurant was put up for sale last year and it was reported in October that the restaurant was slated to close.
