South End voters overwhelmingly chose to re-elect Barack Obama and send Elizabeth Warren to the US Senate Tuesday.

Both Democrats won the precincts that make up the South End neighborhood by wide margins Tuesday when about 62 percent of the neighborhood’s 20,589 registered voters cast their ballots, according to preliminary results complied by the Globe.

Obama received about 84 percent, or 10,628 votes, from the neighborhood compared to 1,900 votes, or 15 percent, received by Republican challenger and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, the data show.

Warren received 9,945 votes, or 78 percent of the votes, while incumbent Republican Sen. Scott Brown received 2,615 votes, or 21 percent.
