America's favorite cookies are going gluten-free.
The Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts will be selling a limited supply of gluten-free Chocolate Chip Shortbread cookies starting Jan. 23, alongside traditional favorites like Thin Mints and Peanut Butter Patties that go on sale Dec. 13.
The Gluten Free Shortbread is one of the two new cookies being offered this year, along with Cranberry Citrus Crisps. There are eight total cookie varieties.
Girl Scout cookies are $4 a package, and the Gluten Free cookies are $5 a pouch. To get your cookie fix, visit www.hergirlscouts.org, click on the "cookie locator" and enter your zip code to find where you can buy cookies this year.
Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts serves 40,000 girls in grades K-12 and engages 17,000 adult volunteers in 178 communities across eastern Massachusetts with the mission to build girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place.
“Buying Girl Scout cookies is more than just handing over money. It's about helping girls develop the skills gained from interacting directly with you,” explains Barbara Fortier, Chief Operating Officer, Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts. “It's about the experience of running a business and working with others. It's the reason we don't sell cookies online. And it's why we encourage you to buy your cookies from a Girl Scout—the cookie professional,” said Fortier.
