The following was submitted by the Stoneham Chamber of Commerce:
The Stoneham Chamber of Commerce warmly invites the community to its annual Mardi Gras party on Saturday, February 2 from 7 to 11 pm at Montvale Plaza, 54 Montvale Avenue, Stoneham. The Mardi Gras party is the annual social evening event for Chamber members and their guests as well as adult members of the community at large.
With the focus on mingling and fun, attendees will enjoy the delicious Cajun-style dinner fare and the atmosphere of true Bourbon Street with music, dancing, entertainment and prizes.
This year’s Mardi Gras will again be hosted by Stoneham Savings Bank, a division of Salem Five Bancorp. “We thoroughly enjoy hosting this event," notes Jeff Worth, Chamber board member and Executive Vice President of Stoneham Savings Bank. "With the holidays over and winter well settled in, it’s the perfect time for a fun party.”
Chamber President and Committee Chair Ed Doherty also notes that Stoneham Motor and StonehamBank will be co-sponsoring the entertainment portion of the evening. The big hits from last year’s event were the juggler and living statue, relates Doherty. This year, they will be back with a tableside magician, a tarot card reader and caricaturists. The menu will feature jambalaya, jerk pork, fire-roasted vegetables, blackened tilapia and lots more.
Tickets are $65 per person or $600 for a table of ten. Included in the admission price is a free ticket for the Big Easy Gift Basket door prize drawing, among other prizes donated by Chamber members. Dress is Festive Casual, but Doherty is quick to add that many attendees last year dressed to compete for the title of King and Queen of Mardi Gras, adding another fun dimension to the festive atmosphere.
