Stoneham Theatre’s upcoming production of the 2002 Tony Award-winning musical Thoroughly Modern Millie is a reunion of sorts.  Season eleven’s 42nd Street director/choreographer Ilyse Robbins is teaming up with two 42nd Street actresses to present Millie.  New York actress Ephie Aardema (Peggy Sawyer in 42nd Street) will be portraying Millie and Stoneham native and favorite, Kathy St. George (Dorothy Brock) will be Muzzy.

Robbins couldn’t be happier.  “These two women are not only amazingly talented, but are also full of professionalism and grace,” Robbins shared.  “I am lucky to call them not only colleagues, but also friends.”  Aardema agreed.  “Playing Millie under the direction of Ilyse, and alongside Kathy is beyond thrilling.”  In another interesting twist, one of Aardema’s best friends, New York actor Noah Zachary, will be playing Millie’s love-interest Jimmy.  “To be surrounded by people you admire makes this undertaking all the more exciting,” Aardema shared.

Stoneham native Kathy St. George, who is currently on tour with Menopause the Musical, is excited to return home.  “I’ve worked with Ilyse on many shows in and around Boston, and she is extraordinary,” St. George expressed. “Ephie is a true triple threat.  I’m a lucky gal to be reunited with these two fabulous women.”

Thoroughly Modern Millie boasts a cast of 20, elaborate costumes and sets, as well as rousing dance numbers and has already sold-out one performance.  Thoroughly Modern Millie opens April 18th and runs through May 12th.  For tickets call the Stoneham Theatre Box Office at (781) 279-2200 or order on line at www.stonehamtheatre.org.
