In Swampscott, about one-quarter of the town of Swampscott lost power around 2 p.m., including the central fire station, said Swampscott Fire Captain Graham Archer. Archer said the outage was caused by heavy winds downing electrical cables. The outage stretched from the entrance of Swampscott at King’s Beach to Vinnin Square, the town’s primary shopping plaza.

Here, National Grid workers repair an electrical line in Swampscott that was damaged by a falling branch.
