Baa, baa hair day at Gore Place
By Denise Taylor, Globe Correspondent
Imagine if 7,000 people showed up every time you got a haircut. That’s what usually happens to the sheep at Gore Place’s annual Sheepshearing Festival on Saturday in Waltham. But the historic estate’s wooly friends are not the only draw.
Visitors will be treated to demonstrations of sheep shearing, herding dogs, fiber arts, and a crafts fair with more than 60 exhibitors, as well as live music, traditional English dancing, and a historical military encampment.
Also, actress Sally Struthers (‘‘All in the Family’’) will help shear a few sheep, from 11 a.m.-noon, to promote her starring role in the Reagle Players’ production of ‘‘Nunsense,’’ which opens Friday, 7:30 pm., at the Robinson Theater in Waltham.
Gore Place Sheepshearing Festival is 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at Gore Place, 52 Gore St., Waltham. Admission: $10; children 12 and under, members free. 781-894-2798, www.goreplace.org.
