Former Waltham Fire captain dies

Anthony Cincotta, a former captain at the Waltham Fire Department, died June 4 of a heart attack at the Hospice by the Sea in Boca Raton, Florida. He was 86.
Born in Salmon Falls, New Hampshire, Mr. Cincotta was raised and educated in Waltham, where he spent most of his life until he moved to Hollywood, FL, in 1978 after retiring from the Waltham Fire Department.
A World War II veteran, Mr. Cincotta joined the Army Air Corps in 1942. He served as a 2nd lieutenant until he was discharged in 1945.
At a dance in Dedham in 1953, Mr. Cincotta met Margaret M. McDonough, whom he married two years later. The couple had two daughters and two sons.
Mr. Cincotta was appointed firefighter for Waltham in 1953. He moved up to the rank of lieutenant in 1960 and was promoted to captain in 1965.
Mr. Cincotta retired from the fire department in 1978. During his 25 year career in Waltham, he served from the Moody Street station with engine one, Lake Street station with engine seven, and headquarters on Lexington Street.
A member of the Sons of Italy in Waltham, Mr. Cincotta enjoyed reading and playing golf.
Aside from his wife, Mr. Cincotta leaves daughters Deborah Pelletier of Hollywood, FL and Christine Crooks of Dallas, Texas; sons Michael of Weymouth and Mark of Hollywood, FL; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A Mass will be said today at 10 a.m. at Saint Mary’s Church in Waltham. Burial with military and fire department honors will follow at the Mount Feake Cemetery in Waltham.
