The Waltham Public Library is hosting a talk to mark the 250th anniversary of the Battle of Quebec on Nov. 18 at 6:30 p.m.

Dr. Helene Day, who is the Honorary Counsul Emerita of Monaco, will give the talk, titled “How and Why France Lost New France.”

Day will tell the story of the Battle of the Plains of Abraham, which was a turning point in the war between the British regulars and the French militia. A year after the battle, New France fell.

The event is sponsored by the Friends of the Waltham Public Library. It is free but seating is limited. You can reserve a spot by registering online under the “Events Calendar” at Waltham.lib.ma.us
