The Foundation for MetroWest announced this month that it distributed grants totaling $5,000 to various Waltham nonprofits.
The Salvation Army Food Pantry, Middlesex Human Service Agency's Bristol Lodge, Grandma's Pantry, JF and CS Family Table, and Sacred Heart Church Food Pantry of Waltham will receive a portion of the $5,000, according to the Foundation.
The grants were a portion of $55,000 awarded to food pantries throughout the MetroWest region from the Foundation's English Family Fund and Herbert and Esther Atkinson Fund.
"Food pantries and service organizations from around Massachusetts continue to face unprecedented challenges," said Judith Salerno, executive director of Foundation for MetroWest. "The MetroWest region is no different and we are proud that we have been able to support the food pantries in Framingham as they work to fulfill the growing number of requests by families to help put a balanced meal on their tables."
The Natick-based Foundation recently announced more than $160K in grants to family support, environmental, and arts organizations throughout MetroWest.
In 2011, the Foundation distributed approximately $600,000 throughout the region, and has distributed more than $6.5 million since its inception in 1995.
The Foundation for MetroWest connects philanthropic opportunity with demonstrated need in MetroWest, according to a statement released by the agency.
The organization promotes philanthropy in the region, helps donors maximize the impact of their local giving, serves as a resource for local nonprofit organizations, and enhances the quality of life for all of our citizens.
