The City of Waltham will be hosting two events for this year’s Fourth of July celebration, according to the city.

On Wednesday, July 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. there will be a family event featuring free children's rides, pony rides, animal shows, music, food, drinks, and more at Prospect Hill Park.

That evening at Leary Field, a mile down the road from Prospect Hill Park, oldies band Profile will be performing at 5:30 p.m. followed by fireworks at 9:30 p.m.

The best places to sit for fireworks include the oval, grassy part of Leary Field, the bleachers nearby, or at the Plympton Elementary School across Bacon Street, according to the Waltham clerk's office.

Children's rides will be at Prospect Hill only.
