Waltham Mayor Jeannette McCarthy and Newton Mayorn Setti Warren have placed a friendly wager on this Saturday's football game between Newton North High School and Waltham High School.

The two mayors met Thursday to tackle terms of the bet, McCarthy said.

"If he wins, I have to give him a tour of Prospect Hill Park in Waltham and buy him either breakfast or lunch," McCarthy said.

If McCarthy wins, Warren will treat her to a meal at a restaurant and some ice cream from Cabot's in Newton, she said. "

"Waltham and Newton have had a strong rivalry for years," McCarthy said. "I remember as a kid they were great games. There were a tremenedous amount of people that used to go to the football games. It was just good old-fashioned fun."

The game is scheduled to take place this Saturday, Sept. 8 at 1 p.m. at Newton North High School.
