Waltham city scholarship applications now available
Waltham officials are now accepting student applications for higher education scholarships distributed by the city.
Any Waltham resident who is planning to attend college, graduate school, trade school, or other certain accredited institutions may be eligible for the award, according to the city.
The 2013 applications are available in the Waltham Treasurer/Collector’s office, located in Waltham City Hall at 610 Main St. The applications can also be downloaded from the city’s website.
Applications must be received by March 22. A four-member committee will review the applications and announce the recipients in June.
The city established the scholarship fund in 1987, and taxpayers voluntarily contribute to it through a check-off included with the city’s annual excise tax payments.
Last year, 20 local students won scholarships to continue their education, according to the city.
