Waltham woman Lena Doung, 25, and her two-year-old daughter, Chloe, have been missing since May 2.

Waltham police are looking for a local mother and her two-year-old daughter who have been missing since last week.

Waltham resident Lena Doung, 25, and her daughter, Chloe, were last seen in downtown Boston on Thursday, May 2, said Waltham Police Det. Sgt. Tim King.

However, information has led police to believe that the pair are in the New York/New Jersey area, King said, and might have been traveling by bus or train.

Police applied for the case to be considered an Amber Alert, but the case does not qualify, King said.

Still, he said police are taking the matter seriously.

"Anytime a 2-year-old is not where she is supposed to be, it concerns us, and we're trying to locate them to make sure they're safe," King said. "The amount of danger she's actually in is undetermined."

King said he could not release any more details due to the ongoing investigation.

Anyone with information on the missing pair can call the Waltham Police Department at 781-314-3600.
