The Bynars - "Party All Nite"
The following is based on a prepared statement from Watertown's Arsenal Center for the Arts:
Electro-pop group The Bynars will bring their sound to the Arsenal Center for the Arts "Play in the Black Box" series, which showcases young up-and-coming talent, with a concert and video premiere on Friday, August 24, at 7:30 p.m.
Their premiering video short, “Every Little Thing You Love,” is an offbeat love ballad about a girl and an alien, with surprising twists and a whirling roller rink prom scene.
With Matt Jatkola on guitar and lead vocals, Ben Mettey on synthesizer and Mike Champ on drums, their debut full-length album was released in 2011. Formed in Boston in 2008, the band has toured extensively in the Northeast, Midwest and Canada, acclaimed for its catchy songwriting and energetic performances, according to the center.
According to a review written in The Boston Globe last year, the group features Weezer-y guitars, old school new wave synth squiggles, and perky songs about weighty topics like asking your mom for money.
The group has shared the stage with artists such as fun., The Front Bottoms, Math the Band, Plushgun, Pretty & Nice, The Wandas and Aloud.
Tickets are $12; $10 for members; $8 for students. Call 617-923-8487 or visit www.arsenalarts.org for tickets and more information.
The Arsenal Center for the Arts is located at 321 Arsenal St., with free parking.
The series is sponsored by Sonic Bids.
