Two silver chalices have been stolen from a church in Watertown, according to authorities.

The chalices, worth $1,500 each, were stolen from the St. James Armenian Apostolic Church located at 465 Mount Auburn St. The cups were sitting on a shelf behind the altar when someone took them, according to Watertown spokesman Lt. Michael Lawn.

The incident was reported to police Oct. 22, but church leaders were unsure of when the chalices were stolen, Lawn said.
