A group of people in their late teens or early 20s were caught on video stealing a Christmas tree and decorations from a Watertown country club last week, according to Watertown police.

The Oakley Country Club on Belmont Street called police on Dec. 4 saying their security camera caught four or five college-aged students on tape around 2 a.m. stealing the country club's Christmas tree and reindeer decorations and loading them into a car, said Watertown Police Lieutenant Michael Lawn.

The manager said the young adults also cut down a wooden country club sign with a chainsaw, Lawn said.

The group took about $1,000 worth of the country club's property, Lawn said.
