Watertown planning officials have received site review applications from developers proposing two mixed-use condominium complexes that would add nearly 100 more residential units to the town.
Developers are hoping to build a 73-unit condo complex at 45 Bacon St., where Circle Suppliers used to be, and a 24-unit complex at 33 Mount Auburn St., where a vacant building that used to house Port Oil sits, said Steve Magoon, Watertown planning director.
Both complexes would feature mainly one- or two-bedroom units, Magoon said.
"Based on some feedback from the community, we've encouraged them to incorporate 3-bedroom units," he said, noting that each complex would house buildings four stories high. "We will see if they formally submit that or not."
Both developers also want to incorporate commercial space into their complexes, Magoon said.
"For Bacon Street, they're potentially looking for a restaurant, and might combine that with artist space, and also woodworking space or office space," he said. "In Mount Auburn, all I know is they're looking at retail space."
The site review submissions are the first step in the application process, and developers will probably contact neighborhood residents this summer to hold preliminary community meetings, Magoon said.
"This will give the neighbors an opportunity to weigh in," he said.
The developers have not yet submitted formal applications, which would require them to schedule a hearing before the Planning Board.
