Watertown police and federal agents arrested a local man this month after they learned he was allegedly set to receive a FedEx package with 20 pounds of marijuana.

Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn said agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration found illegal drugs in a FedEx package and then conducted a controlled delivery with Watertown Police. Authorities dropped off the package on Aug. 7 at the designated address, 250 Waverly Ave.

"They observed a male come and take the package into his residence," Lawn said.

Lawn said the drugs have a street value of about $20,000.

"It’s a fair amount of marijuana," he said.

Officers arrested Michael Versage and charged him with possession of marijuana, police said.
