Victoria’s Secret in Watertown’s Arsenal Mall lost nearly $5,000 worth of inventory after a total of nearly 100 bras were stolen in two different incidents last week, police said.

Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn said store managers there reported on Aug. 24 at 6 p.m. that 70 bras were stolen, with a total value of $3,650. A manager suspected a heavyset woman who had last been seen in the area of the bras, Lawn said.

Managers called police again on Aug. 29 at about 2:30 p.m. with reports that someone had cleaned out three drawers full of bras. The larceny left Victoria’s Secret 24 bras short, worth a total of about $1,200, Lawn said.

Managers were unsure of when the second larceny happened, stating to police that it probably happened within the 24-hour period before they reported it, Lawn said.

“They must have been doing inventory and found three full drawers empty,” Lawn said.

In 2012, the Watertown store reported that $1,000 worth of bras were stolen in a brazen fashion. Earlier this year, the managers also reported that over $1,000 of perfumes and lotions were stolen.

According to Victoria's Secret website, the lingerie chain's more expensive bras can range from $158 through $198. Many of the store's standard bras are priced in the $50 range.
