Opera singer to perform at Wellesley College

Posted October 29, 2009 10:25 AM

Gale Fuller, a celebrated opera singer, will be performing at Wellesley College on Nov. 18 as part of a free and public concert series.

Fuller, a mezzo-soprano, will be accompanied by pianist Jenny Tang. The duo will be performing songs composed by American women and from Poulenc’s Le Travail du Peintre.

“Lullably for a Cat,” composed by Wellesley professor Jenny Olivia Johnson, will be performed for the first time at the concert.

Fuller, a member of the voice faculty at Wellesley College, has worked with a number of opera houses around the country, including the Boston Opera, and has toured in China. Her roles ranged from Rosina in The Barber of Seville to the lead role in Carmen.

Cellist David Russell, contralto Marion Dry, and flutist Suzanne Stumpf will be joining Fuller and Tang on stage.

The concert is Nov. 18 at 12:30 p.m. in the Jewett Auditorium at Wellesley College.
