Wellesley High varsity boys' basketball coach Luke Day has resigned after eight seasons. This past season, Day guided the Raiders to a 12-8 mark overall that ended with a 71-54 loss to Scituate in the first round of the Division 2 South sectional tournament, their best finish in three seasons.

Wellesley was 11-7 in the regular season, placing second in the Bay State Conference's Herget Division, before opening the tournament with a 60-53 preliminary round win over Somerset.

The Raiders graduate eight seniors, including co-captains Evan Kulak and Casey Tanner. But junior forward Adam Farina, a Bay State Conference all-star, will return, along with forward Duncan Johnson, Armand Menegay, Cooper Ainge, Blake Dowling and Matt Farina.

"We appreciate the hard work and effort from coach Day throughout his eight years as head coach," said athletic director John Brown, who expects that the position will be posted in the middle of next month.
