Voter turnout in Wellesley’s annual town election is low so far today, according to Town Clerk Kathleen Nagle, who said in an email at around 5:30 p.m. that none of Wellesley’s eight precincts has reached 300 voters.

Most precincts, she said, have about 2,200 voters.

There are 15,478 registered voters in Wellesley, said Nagle.

It’s the second election in as many weeks for Wellesley, which voted in the presidential primary on March 6 as part of Super Tuesday.

Turnout for the March 6 election was low also, said Nagle, with about 3,200 people total turning out to vote.

The presidential primary conflicted with Wellesley’s usual local election date of the first Tuesday in March, which is why the town had two elections in two weeks.

Polls tonight are open until 8 p.m.
