The Wellesley Police Department is warning residents to be on the lookout for package theft this holiday season to prevent a rash of thefts, which occurred last December.

Last year, according to a police bulletin, packages were stolen from the front porches of area homes in Wellesley and surrounding towns. Police have only had one reported package theft this year, according to the bulletin.

Residents should have packages delivered to areas of homes that are not visible from the street, such as side doors or inside of porches. Package delivery services will often leave packages in other areas of the homes if recipients leave instructions.

Suspicious activity should be reported to the police.
