Beyond the headlines: Women leaders meet to take on women’s cancers

More than 250 women business and community leaders from the greater Boston area will gather at the fifth Susan. F. Smith Center for Women's Cancers Executive Council, Beyond Boston Luncheon on Friday.

The Executive Council, a forum for educating women about breast and gynecologic cancers, this year has the theme of going "Beyond the Headlines: Demystifying women's cancers in the news today."

The luncheon will include a panel discussion led by Eric P. Winer, chief of the Division of Women’s Cancers and director of the Breast Oncology Center in Dana-Farber’s Susan F. Smith Center for Women’s Cancers.

Other panelists include Ursula Matulonis, medical director of the center's Gynecologic Oncology Program, Ian E. Krop, director of the center's Clinical Research, Breast Cancer Oncology Programm Rachel Freedman, a medical oncologist at the center, Sarah Kalil, a breast cancer patient, and Maggie Loucks, a breast cancer survivor.

The event will be held at The Wellesley Country Club (300 Wellesley Ave.) from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
