Program offers free kayaking along Charles River in West Roxbury
(Lauren Patrick)
A program is offering free kayaking along the Charles River in West Roxbury on select dates this summer.
Run by the Boston Parks and Recreation Department and Maine-based retail company L.L. Bean, the program at Millennium Park provides two instructors and 14 kayaks for three sessions on the following Saturdays: June 23, July 14 and July 21, according to city parks officials.
The first of the program’s four sessions was held June 16. That date had sold out, as has the June 23rd session, city officials said. Sign-up for the two July dates is expected to begin soon at www.cityofboston.gov/parks.
The program is open to anyone 8 and older, officials said.
The western edge of Millennium Park borders the Charles River, which divides the Boston neighborhood of West Roxbury and the neighboring city of Newton.
