City to screen movie series at Boston parks during nights in August

The city will screen a series of family-friendly movies at parks in Boston during nights in August.

Mayor Thomas M. Menino’s "Movie Nights" series is an initiative of the city’s ParkARTS program and is sponsored by Bank of America and the Reebok Foundation, the city said in a press release.

Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs and other items to make themselves comfortable for the outdoor summertime film screenings, according to the release. All shows are free to attend and start at dusk.

Dates, locations and movies are as follows:

Monday, August 6 -- Hunt/Almont Park, Mattapan -- The Game Plan
Monday, August 13 -- Iacono Park, Hyde Park -- Toy Story 3
Monday, August 20 -- Billings Field, West Roxbury -- Field of Dreams
Tuesday, August 21 -- The Playstead, Franklin Park -- The Zoo Keeper
Wednesday, August 22 -- LoPresti Park, East Boston -- Puss in Boots
Monday, August 27 -- Medal of Honor Park, South Boston -- We Are Marshall
Wednesday, August 29 -- Ramsay Park/Jim Rice Field, Roxbury -- Rio
