The city is seeking community input on a $410,000 project to improve the playground area at Billings Field in West Roxbury.

The project will include renovating and/or replacing play structures, according to Jacquelyn Goddard, a spokeswoman for the Boston Parks and Recreation Department.

The plans would be put out for bid this summer and all work is scheduled to be completed by spring 2014, she said.

The parks department held a meeting earlier this month to present initial plans and gather neighborhood feedback.

“We are looking for interested community members to help us in determining how the Billings Field playground will look and function in the future,” said a flier from the city. “This playground renovation provides us with a unique opportunity to create a space for all.”

A second public meeting is scheduled for Feb. 21 at 6 p.m. at the West Roxbury Library.

Billings Field is surrounded by Centre, Bellevue and Lagrange streets, Sturges Road, and Quinn Way.

The flier said those interested in learning more should call Cathy Baker-Eclipse at the Boston Parks and Recreation Department at 617-961-3058 or e-mail her at cathy.baker-eclipse@cityofboston.gov.
