Movies will be screened and popcorn will be served for free at Boston parks on six nights this summer, city officials said.
“Bring your blankets and chairs and make yourself comfortable as you enjoy these family favorites in the outdoors,” said a statement from the city’s Parks and Recreation Department, which will host Mayor Thomas M. Menino’s Movie Nights as a part of its ParkARTS program.
All shows will start at dusk. On the five Monday-night movie showings, the Boston Children’s Museum will host pre-movie family activities starting at 7 p.m.
The movie nights are sponsored by Bank of America. Free popcorn will be provided by AMC Loews Theaters and Skinny Pop Popcorn, city officials said.
Below is a list of the movies, dates and locations:
“The Express” will be screened on Monday, July 29, at the Hunt/Almont Park on Almont St. in Mattapan
“Miracle” will be screened on Monday, Aug. 5, at Medal of Honor Park on East 1st Street in South Boston
“ParaNorman” will be screened on Monday, Aug. 12 at Blackstone Square on Washington Street in the South End
“Madagascar 3” will be screened on Thursday, Aug. 15 at Adams Park on Washington Street in Roslindale
“We Are Marshall” will be screened on Monday, Aug. 19, at Billings Field on LaGrange Street in West Roxbury
“E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial” will be screened on Monday, Aug. 26 at Iacono Playground on Readville Street in Hyde Park
