A satellite learning center in Westborough run by the University of Phoenix will close as part of a nationwide move by the for-profit education provider, spokesmen for the company said Thursday.

The center in Westborough served 84 students, who will continue to be able to attend classes or access classes online.

A University of Phoenix center in Braintree, serving more than 150 students, will stay open. In all, the University of Phoenix has about 2,100 students in Massachusetts.

The New York Times reported this week that "The University of Phoenix, the nation’s largest for-profit university, is closing 115 of its brick-and-mortar locations, including 25 main campuses and 90 smaller satellite learning centers. The closings will affect some 13,000 students, about 4 percent of its student body of 328,000.''
