The School Committee has upheld the firing of a high school coach after an investigation prompted by a public outcry last spring. Athletic director Karl Fogel allegedly had warned boys’ track coach Tom Davis not to let his team run without their shirts, then fired Davis in April after a few of them did so on several occasions. In a statement, Superintendent John Antonucci said an investigation found that a claim that Fogel had physical contact with Davis over the incident was untrue. Fogel had been placed on administrative leave and has since announced his intention to retire.
