Get fit for the summer at Winchester Hospital's Center for Healthy Living

Are you looking to get ready for summer? Kick off the spring season by getting your mind and body moving! Winchester Hospital’s Center for Healthy Living has designed a personal fitness class – Custom Fitness for Healthy Living – specifically designed for people with existing health conditions like diabetes, high blood pressure, or even a weight issue. Looking for a different class? Don’t worry, there are plenty of other programs for people of all ages to help keep you fit. A complete list of activities and classes offered is listed below. Tai Chi/Qi Gong is a 10-week fitness class that utilizes gentle flowing movements to reduce stress, increase flexibility and balance, and improve muscle strength. 
Date: Mondays, April 29 to July 8 (no class May 27). 
Time: 6:15 to 7:45 p.m.
Location: Winchester Hospital Family Medical Center, 500 Salem St., Route 62, Wilmington
Cost: $150 (10 week session)

Yoga is a traditional yoga class that includes gentle stretching, postures/poses (Asana), conditioning exercises, breathing techniques (Pranayama) and relaxation/mediation. This class is ideal for the beginner or the experienced student. Class is taught with various modifications to address all physical abilities. This class includes a longer meditation/relaxation period where various techniques are taught to manage stress and induce a relaxed state.  
Date: Tuesday, April 30 to Jun 25
Time: 6 to 7:15 p.m.

Cost: $150 (10 classes)

Mommy & Me Yoga is a gentle yoga class designed to help mothers regain strength and flexibility after pregnancy while bonding with their baby and connecting with other moms. 
Date: Wednesdays
Session 1: May 1 to May 22
Session 2: May 29 to June 19
Time: 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
Location: 200 Unicorn Park Drive, Woburn: Unicorn Park, Conference Room A & B
Cost: $60 (four classes)

Custom Fitness for Healthy Living is a new class that will work with a small group so you can receive individual attention specific to your health and fitness needs. Workouts will focus on strength training, cardio, stretching and flexibility.
Date: Mondays and Wednesdays, May 6 to June 10 (no class May 27)
Time: 6 to 7 p.m.
Location: Winchester Hospital Family Medical Center, 500 Salem St., Wilmington
Cost: $150 (10 classes)

Fitness Basics is a five-week, low-impact aerobic and muscle conditioning workout for women and men. This fitness program helps maintain muscle strength and cardiovascular health. 
Date: Tuesday, May 7 to Thursday, June 6 (class meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays)
Time: 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Tuesdays
          9:15 to 10:15 a.m. on Thursdays

Cost: $55 (10 classes)

Pre-Natal Yoga is a five-week yoga class that prepares your body for childbirth in gentle to moderate postures that stretch, and strengthen and tone muscles. The class also focuses on breathing techniques and meditation.
Date: Tuesdays, May 7 to June 14
Time: 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Cost: $75 (five classes)

Nursing Mothers Support Group is a free support group for new moms who have questions about breastfeeding. The group meets every Wednesday.

Time: 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.

HOPE Group is a free support group for parents and families who have experienced a miscarriage, stillbirth or neonatal death. The group meets the second Wednesday of the month.
Date: Wednesday, May 8
Time: 7:30 p.m.

Flex and Stretch is a five-week class taught by a physical therapist that focuses on maintaining and/or improving flexibility, strength and balance.
Date: Monday and Fridays, May 10 to June 14 (no class May 27)
Time: 10 to 11 a.m.

Cost: $60 (10 Classes)

Insulin Pumpers is a free support group for diabetics who wear an insulin pump or are interested in learning about insulin pump therapy. The group meets the second Saturday of the month.
Date: Saturday, May 11
Time: 9:30 to noon

Alzheimer’s Support group is designed to provide emotional, educational and social support for people who care for loved ones with Alzheimer’s Disease. The group meets the third Thursday of the month.

Building Bones is a five-week, low-impact class that focuses on muscle strengthening and stretching with the use of low weight bearing exercises. The workout is designed for men and women who want to tone muscles and maintain bone health. 
Date: Wednesday, May 22 to Friday, June 21 (class meets Wednesdays and Fridays)
Time: 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.

Cost: $45 (10 classes)

Yoga Basics is a 10-week yoga class for beginners or for those who want to return to a yoga practice. This class provides introductory postures and breathing techniques, gentle stretching and strengthening and relaxation. 
Date: Saturdays, June 1 to August 10 (no class July 6) 
Time: 9 to 10:15 a.m.

Cost: $150 (10 classes)

Ageless Yoga Breathe and smile as you stretch and strengthen! Enjoy the journey of life with fortitude, flexibility and well being. As your body ages, muscles and joints can begin to tighten which can cause discomfort, reduced mobility, stiffness and pain. This yoga class is beneficial to people at any age, but especially can help seniors regain flexibility while reducing aches. In this class you will learn modified poses for safe practice, breathing techniques and relaxation methods. It is never too late to begin yoga.
Date: Monday, June 10 to August 12
