Along with selling costumes, magic tricks, and high-grade stage makeup, Sam Bertolino was a self-styled magician and comedian whose stage never extended past the front door of Little Jack Horner Joke and Magic Shop, on Tremont Street just off Boston Common. Show business celebrities frequented the store, drawn by his sense of community and vast stock of unusual supplies. Mr. Bertolino died Nov. 4.
