Where We Worship
What are the oldest places of worship in Newton and Wellesley? We set out to answer that question, working with local historical societies, churches and synagogues. We found buildings that date as far back as 1813. But you may have favorite pictures, and a few historical notes, too. Send us your photos at wellesley@boston.com or newton@boston.com.
Shown here is St. Mary's Episcopal Church, at 258 Concord St., the oldest church building in Newton. The cornerstone was laid in 1813, and the building was completed in 1814 and enlarged 1838 and again in 1892.
