FOXBORO — With 2:30 to go in overtime, Fontbonne turned to its captain, Taylor Shepherd, and the senior forward took care of business, scoring to beat Norwood, 3-2, and send the Ducks to the Division 2 state final.

Fontbonne will play the winner of today’s Duxbury vs. Concord-Carlisle game next Sunday at TD Garden.

“We knew this game was ours and we worked hard for it,’’ said Shepherd. “There were nerves and excitement and there was this ‘what if’ type of thing, especially for me because it’s my senior year, but we pulled through.’’

The win was Fontbonne’s sixth straight and gives the Milton school a chance to redeem itself after losing in last year’s final to Winchester.

The Ducks (16-2-5) came out flat in the first and second periods, with Norwood taking a 1-0 lead after one on a goal by senior forward Ali Maloof. Junior Katie O’Brien got the assist.

Shepherd almost tied it in the second with a flurry in the 13th minute, but couldn’t beat Norwood junior goalie Christina Frasca.

In the third, Maloof scored her second goal on a breakaway with 14:12 left after getting set up by senior forward Haley O’Rourke.

But Shepherd closed the gap to 2-1 just 28 seconds later, scoring on a shot in close, assisted by junior forward Erin McLoughlin.

The Ducks tied it with 6:28 remaining on a goal by McLoughlin, assisted by sophomore defenseman Erin Ferrara. Shepherd took care of the rest.

“We had a nice motivational talk going into the third and we came back out and, like coach [Bob Huxley] always said, ‘The game’s not over,’ and we battled back and won the game,’’ said Shepherd.
