Philip Markoff, the former medical student accused of killing a woman he met through Craigslist, committed suicide in jail Sunday by repeatedly stabbing himself with a primitive scalpel fashioned out of a pen and a piece of metal and by suffocating himself with a plastic bag cinched around his neck, Suffolk District Attorney Daniel F.
