    Dorothy, played by Angelina O’Brien, wistfully sang about wanting more than what Topeka, Kansas had to offer.

    The Mayor of the Munchkins, played by Nicole Gouveia (far right), tried to relegate a welcome committee of munchkins to decide whether Dorothy was a good witch or a bad witch.

    The Good Witch, Gabi Mathews, welcomes Dorothy, played by O’Brien, to the land of Oz.

    The Good Witch, played by Mathews, was pleased that Dorothy saved her munchkins from the evil witch’s shenanigans.

    Dorothy, played by O’Brien, found herself surrounded by sweet little munchkins. 
There were about 30 munchkins in the production, all played by 3rd, 4th and 5th graders from Somerville Public Schools.

    Munchkins shouted to the audience, “Ding, dong, the wicked witch is dead!”

    The Wicked Witch of the West, played by Brianna Xavier, split ears with her maniacal shrieks. She vowed to make Dorothy pay for killing her sister.

    Dorothy, played by O’Brien, stumbled across the talking Scarecrow, played by Michael Buckley. When he talks about longing for a brain, Dorothy reassures him that plenty of people get on without them.

    Scarecrow (Buckley) and Dorothy (O’Brien) found the Tin Woodman, played by Tyler Jacques, rusted in the wood.

    The Tin Woodman, played by Jacques, had to be oiled many times, especially after he started crying about his lack of a heart.

    The Cowardly Lion, played by Nickolas Menezes, roared on to stage, knocking down multiple characters in his quest to hide his cowardice.

    The Cowardly Lion, played by Menezes, trembled on stage, informing Dorothy, Scarecrow and the Tin Woodman that he is always hungry, due to the fact that he cannot stand the sight of blood

    The Jitterbugs quickly engulfed the characters as they travelled along the yellow brick road. Jitterbugs force their victims to dance, dance, and dance until there is nothing left of them.

    The Cowardly Lion (Menezes) shook and cowered uncontrollably as the Wizard of Oz, voiced and played by Loic Fitanides, told the four friends they must kill the witch before he will grant their requests.

    The Wicked Old Witch of the West (Xavier) enjoyed a cup of baby’s blood with her fellow witches, played by Jennifer Silva and Meghan Lynch.

    Upon their return to Oz, Dorothy and her friends discover that the wizard is a man from Omaha rather than a terrible magician. The wizard, played by Fitanides, said he may have been a bad wizard, but he was a first-rate humbug.
