A 19-year-old Woburn man was killed early yesterday after losing control of his car on Interstate 93 and falling 30 to 40 feet onto Route 28, State Police said. Christopher J. Ward was driving a 1997 Ford Taurus south on I-93 when his vehicle veered off the road, crossed over the guardrail, and fell. State troopers arrived about 12:50 a.m. and found Ward inside the car. He was pronounced dead at Massachusetts General Hospital. Investigators found that a 1995 Nissan pickup truck hit Ward’s sedan on Route 28, either as it hit the ground or immediately after. The pickup’s driver, Lawrence J. Capriotti Jr., 31, of Somerville, fled the scene but returned about an hour later, police said. He is being charged with two counts of leaving the scene of an accident. The cause of Ward’s crash is under investigation.
