State transportation officials will hold a public meeting to introduce construction plans and schedule information for the forthcoming Assembly Square Orange Line station from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Michael E. Capuano Early Childhood Center on Glen Street. A team from the MBTA will introduce the plans and answer citizens’ questions. The station was spurred this summer by $25 million the city will spend to update infrastructure at the Assembly Square development site, located on Somerville’s old industrial waterfront. The station is expected to open by 2014, and will eventually serve the mixed-use development at the 65-acre site, formerly a Ford Motor Co. assembly plant. Last month, the MBTA selected S&R Construction of Lowell for the $29.2 million contract to build the station. - Matt Byrne
