MBTA renovations between Harvard & Alewife

The Red Line tracks between Harvard Square and Alewife sit on concrete slabs that float on rubber disks designed to absorb noise and vibration from trains. Years of water filtration into the tunnel resulted in corrosion and cracking that needed to be addressed in order to maintain safe and reliable service. Construction workers are pictured preparing a slab of concrete for replacement.
