Students handwrite their hopes for President Obama

The letter-writing campaign is sponsored by Handwriting Without Tears, a national curriculum for K-5 students that guides putting words on paper. Jan Olsen, founder of Handwriting Without Tears, said the program is an easy way to teach children the power of the written word and to encourage them to share their opinions and concerns. Here, fourth grade students [pictured] discuss their ideas for letters at South Lawrence East Elementary School.
