Waltham's Stanley among lawmakers
blocking House over DiMasi legal bills
State Representative Thomas M. Stanley joined three Democratic colleagues, angry over House Speaker Robert A. DeLeo's refusal to provide an accounting of hundreds of thousands of dollars in tax-funded legal bills linked to the indictment of Salvatore F. DiMasi, in a highly unusual insurrection Monday that blocked all floor action in the chamber. Boston Globe, 11:12 a.m.
Trapelo-Lexington among crash-prone crossings
The junction of Lexington Street and Trapelo Road in Waltham is ranked 43d on MassHighway's list of the worst intersections in the state, based on accidents recorded from 2005 to 2007, with its 89 crashes including 21 with injuries.

Suburban nonprofits get $160K boost

The Girl Scouts who sold the most cookies in Eastern Massachusetts last year are back at it again, with Sunday's start of holiday sales season meaning 60,000 boxes of Thin Mints, Caramel deLights, and other varieties are being sold door-to-door and at a number of venues in Waltham.
