Zervas Elementary School
Zervas is one of 15 public elementary schools in Newton and primarily serves the Waban neighborhood. After 5th grade, Zervas students attend Oak Hill Middle School and Newton South High School. Zervas is the physically smallest of Newton's elementaries, with just over 30,000 square feet of space. The one-story brick building was built in 1954, and was originally named Beethoven School. It has 15 classrooms housing 324 students. Stephen Griffin has been Zervas principal since 2005. He had previously been principal at Hosmer School in Watertown.
