Malden transportation

The Malden Center MBTA station is Malden's transportation hub. It is served by the Orange Line subway, commuter rail, and numerous bus lines. The availability of train, bus, and rail service make it relatively easy to commute into Boston, and thousands of Malden residents do that each weekday.

Subway

Malden is the terminus of the Orange Line subway, which connects the city to downtown Boston. There are two Orange Line stops in Malden, Malden Center and Oak Grove. A third station, Wellington, is just over the border in Medford.

  • Malden Center Station, Pleasant Street between Summer and Commercial streets. Parking at Malden Center is limited. There are only 188 spaces, though some parking is available nearby. Malden Center station is served by 12 bus lines.
  • Oak Grove Station, Washington Street at Winter Street. Oak Grove has a large parking lot, with room for nearly 800 cars, but on work days it fills up quickly. The station is also served by four bus lines.

Commuter rail

Malden Center is the first outbound stop on the MBTA's Haverhill commuter rail line, which runs from Boston's North Station to Haverhill. The one-way time to Boston is approximately 12 minutes.
