A Boston resident for 30 years, MC Slim JB is a professional restaurant critic with over 400 published reviews and food/ drink features dating to 2005. He has written for Boston magazine, The Improper Bostonian, Boston Phoenix, Stuff Magazine, Dig Boston, and many other local and national publications. He adopted his pen name as an amateur contributor to local food-geek forum Chowhound, and having developed a following there, was asked by his first professional editors to keep using it.
