I don’t want to spend money on four new tires. Can I use my snow tires during the summer months?
Q. Last year, I put four snow tires on my car, but the summer tires were worn out. I don’t want to spend money on four new tires. Can I use the snow tires during the summer months?
A. The rubber compound in winter tires is designed for cold weather use. In warm weather, the tires will work fine but they’ll wear out more quickly. It’s not an ideal to use your winter tires during the summer months, but if it is an economic trade-off, use the winter tires. Driving with good winter tires is safer than driving with bad summer tires.
