Why does my infotainment system reboot while driving?

 —Land Rover

The infotainment system of my Range Rover sometimes seems to reset while driving down the road. What is going on?

Q. I own a Range Rover, and the infotainment system sometimes seems to reset while driving down the road. I paid over $80,000 for a luxury SUV, and I didn’t expect it to reboot at 70 miles per hour. What is going on?

A. Today’s vehicles are mobile computer systems with massive computer power and, in some cases, their own IP addresses and Wi-Fi hotspots. I have seen similar issues in many makes and models, but in my opinion, putting too much technology in vehicles may be the root of the problem. In the 2016 Range Rover, there was a similar issue. The screen would go blank, and it was repaired with updated software. Have the dealer check if there are any software updates to remedy this problem. Nowadays, it seems more vehicles get repaired with software updates than replacement parts.
