The hotly anticipated 2019 Aston Martin Vantage is here. The iconic company unveiled the new model at its headquarters in Gaydon, England, and the luxury sports car looks to be a fantastic evolution of its most popular model.

The 2019 Vantage has a striking, sculptural design that not only looks stunning, but serves to enhance the car’s aerodynamics. The front splitter, for example, sends air beneath the body where a series of fences direct cooling air to where it’s most needed. It also feeds air to the rear diffuser, which then creates an area of low pressure and helps to prevent turbulence. The design of the Vantage is beauty and engineering melded into one package.

“I think people are going to be blown away by the design,” said Laura Schwab, Aston Martin president of the Americas. “This new product is going to make people fall in love with this car.”

Power for the new Vantage comes from the same engine found in the DB11 V8, but with slightly less torque. The 4.0-liter twin turbocharged V8 is a result of Aston Martin’s partnership with Mercedes-AMG. Don’t expect it to feel or sound like a Mercedes, though, as Aston Martin put its touch on the final product. The Vantage will have its own unique sound, one befitting the brand’s image and performance focus.

That engine provides 503 horsepower with 505 pound-feet of torque. Aston Martin says the Vantage will go from 0-60 miles per hour in a cool 3.6 seconds with a top speed of 195 miles per hour. (You’ll want to book some track time to put that top speed claim to the test.) The engine is paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission, which is mounted at the rear to improve the vehicle’s weight distribution. In every way possible, the Vantage is a balancing act between luxury and performance.

The balancing act includes a 50/50 weight distribution with a total vehicle weight of 3,373 pounds. That’s certainly not light for a sports car that seats two people, but with a perfect weight distribution, the higher overall total won’t be as much of an issue. Enhancing performance is a choice of Sport, Sport Plus, and Track modes to tailor the drive even more to suit the driver’s needs.

There’s also an electronic rear differential for the first time ever in an Aston Martin. It’s linked to the electronic stability control and directs power to the wheel that needs it most for improved handling and better control. This will be particularly noticeable at higher speeds when the system’s fast response time will make the car feel more composed.

Inside, the Vantage delivers the ultra-luxurious experience for which Aston Martin is known. This is the brand favored by James Bond and Tom Brady, after all, so it has to live up to those famous names. The interior is a combination of rich leather and Alcantara with sport seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and satin and gloss black accents on the dash. There’s an 8-inch LCD screen with navigation and dual-zone automatic climate control to maintain comfort throughout the ride.

Optional features only increase the luxury. Choose from a full leather interior, tread plates with sill plaques in carbon fiber, headrests embossed with the Aston Martin or Vantage logos, and even seat belt colors with names like Champagne and Spicy Red. Exterior options include roof panels, side gills, and door handles in carbon fiber as well as brake calipers in a rainbow of colors. Aston Martin offers customization on the Vantage, too.
