Watch out for a bunch of traffic restrictions this weekend

A traffic advisory is issued through Sunday due to the Haitian-American Unity Parade, the Harpoon Brewery Road Race, and Boston University’s commencement ceremony.

Traffic and parking are restricted Thursday through Sunday for various events taking place in the city.

The Boston Transportation Department issued a traffic advisory through the weekend in mind of the Haitian-American Unity Parade, Harpoon Brewery Road Race, and Boston University’s commencement ceremony, among other events.

Visitors are encouraged not to drive into the city.

Saturday, May 18

Traffic will be detoured to accommodate the Youth Pride March, which begins at City Hall Plaza at noon. Avoid areas around City Hall Plaza, including Cambridge Street, Tremont Street, Boylston Street, Charles Street, Beacon Street, and Bowdoin Street. Traffic will be detoured until the parade ends at about 1 p.m.

Sunday, May 19

The Haitian- American Unity Parade begins at 1 p.m. in Mattapan Square. Blue Hill Avenue will be closed to traffic between River Street and Talbot Avenue from noon to 4 p.m., and parking is prohibited in the following areas:

Blue Hill Avenue, east side, River Street (Mattapan Square) to Talbot Avenue

– Blue Hill Avenue on Center Island, east side of island, Babson Street to Freemont Street

– Babson Street, both sides, Blue Hill Avenue, heading northerly to Freemont Street

– Talbot Avenue, both sides, Blue Hill Avenue to Wales Street

– Westview Street, both sides, Blue Hill Avenue to Westview Way

The Harpoon Brewery 5 Miller Road Race begins at 10 a.m. in the Seaport District. Avoid FID Kennedy, Tide Street, Drydock Avenue, Black Falcon Avenue, Design Center Way, Summer Street, East First Street, Farragut Road, East Broadway Extension, Day Boulevard, Shore Road, and East First Street. Traffic will be delayed as runners make their way to the finish line. The race is expected to conclude at 11:15 a.m..

The Saint James Marion Procession begins at 11:30 a.m. in Chinatown. Avoid Harrison Avenue, Kneeland Street, Surface Road, and Beach Street. The parade is expected to end at 12:45 p.m..

Work taking place in the Financial District will close traffic on Water Street, between Congress Street and Broad Street, and Kilby Street, between Milk Street and State Street, for 24 hours. Parking is prohibited.
