Q: I sell real estate and although we don’t take clients out like we used to, every once in a while it is nice to have a big four-door car for the occasional showing. I have a midsize SUV but would like a sedan for ease of access. Any thoughts about the Toyota Avalon versus the Chevrolet Impala. Will the Chevy be as reliable as a Toyota?
A: The Chevrolet Impala is getting nothing but rave reviews, but in the spirit of full disclosure, I have never driven one more than a few minutes. Toyota continues to make great products and the last Avalon that I reviewed was very good. The latest JD Power study, which is based on three-year-old vehicles, shows the Avalon is the most dependable full-size sedan followed by the Buick Lacrosse (also a car I enjoyed) with the Impala down a couple of slots.
